Dance Lab with Ming Hon

Join us November 3 + 4 from 1-4 PM for a not-to-be missed workshop: Dance Lab with Ming Hon! Early bird pricing is $90 and available until Oct.23 Regular price is $120.

With this movement and creation research workshop, we will be working with our natural tendencies and habits in our individual styles and creation practices identifying our distinct and unique offering as physical, movement based performance artists. Attempting to gain a deeper self awareness and embrace what our own voice and personal artistic signature is. When what we do in studio, in improvisations, in building choreography, what we write in journals can at times feel like they’ve become routine, feel like we fall back into the same patterns, or that we’re doing the same thing over and over again, it can feel as though we may be stunted or at worse- boring.

Using improvising, writing, and group exercises utilizing the help of each other as witnesses we will work to pinpoint what work we want to make and share. We will work towards being sensational, spectacular, successful to ourselves first and what we can give as performers to an audience.

Ming’s practice and work is based off her training in contemporary dance performance and her stubbornness to create movement based work featuring herself. Her works have grown to include video, installation, with theatrical elements and performance art aesthetic. There are themes of work, capitalism, the economy and politics of the body, and a clear influence of visual and pop culture.
